Eclipse Editor 1.0 Released!
After months of work, Eclipse Editor is finally finished! This game uses an open source clone of Mario Editor called Open Editor by OPundGames as a base to create a completely fresh level editor with the engine. Open Editor is a completely fresh reprogramming of Mario Editor, and is not approved nor endorsed by Hello Fangaming. It is not a "leak" of the original Mario Editor source code, it's just a remake.
Open Editor was a great base to work with, making the process of development more streamlined and effective. However, there are some minor bugs with the engine, and they have been fixed in Eclipse Editor. Also, Eclipse Editor is open source, meaning anyone can look at the source code and make their own modifications of the engine, creating their own Hello Mario Engine level editors from it using GameMaker: Studio 1.4.9999!
Eclipse Editor plays just like Mario Editor, but with minor refinements in the editor controls, some bug fixes, the addition of a new tileset, and various shader effects such as a lighting system, wavy water, and much more!
The game comes bundled with two example levels: "Tutorial" and "The Forbidden Swamp". Tutorial is a level that shows new players how to make their own levels, teaching them how to use the items at their disposal in four categories: Basics, Modifiers, Warps, and Misc. The Forbidden Swamp is a level that takes the user through a creepy swamp with enemies and branching paths creating an interesting playing experience.
